Some Common Affiliate Mistakes

by matthew faulkner / http://tinyurl.com/24lx4e

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you'll find that the subject of affiliate marketing is certainly no exception.

Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.

In the last few years, affiliate marketing has exploded on the Internet. In pretty much every web search that is done during every second of the day on the Internet, people are steered towards affiliate marketing sites. Some work, some don't and some are gone before they even have a chance to get going. Let's go over a few common mistakes affiliate marketers make when setting up and running their site.

* Make sure you completely understand the affiliate program you're signing up for. It can be really tough to turn down that one program that brags about the huge commission, but if the program is selling car parts and you don't even drive, you might want to pass it up. If you know a lot about sports or pets or horses, try to find an affiliate marketing program geared towards your area of expertise. You might not become a millionaire overnight, but in the long run, you'll make a LOT more money that way, and you'll enjoy the affiliate marketing experience a lot more, too.

* If you have the option on your site for folks to sign up for emails, make sure the ones you send out are informative and fun and not spam. Yes, you want to make sure you get the links of the product you're selling in the email, but you have to take the time to set it up so it doesn't look like spam or people will get annoyed with your site, opt out of your emails and never visit your site again. It's the difference between taking a bit of extra effort and not. If you're willing to go the extra mile, you'll see the reward in your sales.

* Try to write your own content. It's not unheard of for a person to visit 4-5 different affiliate marketing websites and see the exact same content on all of them. The site creators simply used the same public domain copy and didn't even bother to change it up at all. Don't let this happen to you. The only way your site will stand out among all the garbage is to make sure your content is completely unique.

Making mistakes when you start a new business are common. It's going to happen, so don't panic when it does. But with a little research, and a bit of common sense, you can avoid most of the mistakes that plague the laziest of the affiliate website creators.

Now you can be a confident expert on affiliate marketing. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on affiliate marketing. ezinearticles.com/?expert=Matthew Faulkner http://tinyurl.com/24lx4e

Why should you Cloak Your Affiliate Links

by Jonathan Lee

This report is for the people who think they are losing their commissions from altered affiliate Url's.
An Affiliate is a salesperson that promotes another's website to make a commission on his/her sales effort for that website. This is both beneficial for both the website owner and the individual sales person. The website owner can have literally have thousand of sales reps at no cost to him. He only pays when those sales reps actually sells his product. The sales rep also is in a good position because he/she has thousands of customers to try to sell to. The website owner issues a affiliate link to the sales person and most of the time promotional materials the sales person can use. The affiliate link is used to track the time of the sale and what was purchased. The sales person then gets a percentage of sales price.
For some reason, I guess to be mean, a user will copy and paste the affiliates url in his browser and then erase the affiliates id. This leads to the affiliate does not getting the sale. The website will get credit for the sale, but some sites rotate their ads so some one else will get the credit. This seams to be quit unfair, so the question is what can we do to mimize losing our sales.
Their are several ways to cloak a affiliates address. One way is to use frames. Frames are easy to setup and you don't need a website to use them. The problem is you can not use frames with most surfing software like trafficswarm or topsurfer because they are using them. Another thing to watch out for is using the "&" sign. A lot of Ezine will cut the url off at the "&" and now your URL that is ineffective.
In Part 2 We will cover how to do this with two lines of code. In Part 3 We will add a simple Email Alert routine.

How To Cloak Your Affiliate Links.

This report is for the people who think they are losing their commissions from altered affiliate Url's.
To use this cloaked URL address program you will need a website, know how to use and ftp program to upload and download files and notepad or a text editor that saves in plain ascii format. For those who do not know PHP we will explain each item. First these two symbols represent the start of a php program "
-------cut here-------
header("Location: http://xjon45.dogsecrets.hop.clickbank.net/");
exit;
?>
------end--------

The header command rewrites the html header file and send it back to the requesting browser and, tells that browser to get this website address. The program then executes the exit command which as you can guess, exits the program. After you cut and paste it into notepad change the URL to your affiliate URL. Next save the file using "save as" index.php to somewhere like your desktop where you can find it easily. Run your FTP program and create a directory using a number like "100". in the main directory. Now upload the index.php file to that directory, Isn't that really simple. Open up your browser and type in Http://www.Yourdomain.com/100/

With any program you can make it do a lot more if you wish. You could keep track of certain information by using a database program like Msql. You could track the ip address, the time and date it was clicked on, and where the ad came from. Finding out where the ad came from is a must piece of information. You can then tell which ads are working and which ads are not, saving you both time and money.

Part 3 <-- We will add a simple Email Alert routine.

Till next time.

Work at Home Scams

For many people there is a dream of being their own boss, avoiding rush
hour traffic, and having that home office. However, if you are not
careful, you may find yourself a victim of work at home scams.
Unfortunately there are people waiting to prey on those who desire that
home based job. Information is power, so knowing the common work at
home scams and how to avoid them can allow you to find the legitimate
opportunities of your dreams.
Envelope Stuffing -It seems like the envelope stuffing scheme has been
around forever. The advertisements will tell you that you can earn $5
to $10 per envelope that you stuff. Some tell you that you can earn
thousands of weeks for just a small fee. When you send in your fee you
usually get a letter telling you how to place the same ads in the paper
and online that you answered. So now you are out your fee.
There are legitimate envelope stuffing businesses. They are called
Direct Mail businesses. These companies put together postcards, coupon
envelopes, catalog, and business mailings for companies. This is a
legitimate business you can start out of your home.
Assembly Jobs - First, it is important to realize that there really are
legitimate work at home crafting jobs. They are just buried out there
beneath all the scams. Assembly work at home scams will advertise large
amounts of money for putting together simple crafts. Usually the amount
of money promised sounds too good to be true for putting together
bracelets, beads or other craft items. What usually happens is that you
put together the craft, send it back for approval, and you are told it
is not up to standard. So now you are out your initial fee.
The difference between these legitimate jobs and the work at home scams
is that the company will usually offer you feedback and allow you to
fix the problem. They will also have customer support, use quality
supplies, and even have money back guarantees. The business will
usually have been in operation for a long time and have an established
operating history.
Pyramid Schemes - Remember those chain letters that told you to put
money in an envelope and send it to the person at the top if the list
then add your name to the bottom. The idea was that you would end up at
the top of the list and make thousands of dollars? Well the days of
such blatant pyramid schemes are over. Today these work at home scams
are artfully disguised as MLM or network marketing opportunities. The
problem is that they give a bad name to legitimate MLM businesses.

Anyone-Can-Make-Money-On-The-Internet

By Allen Trumbach

Very often we hear people saying there is an abundance of opportunities for online business because e-commerce is a huge industry! How true this statement is!
In a matter of few years, the Internet has consolidated itself as a very powerful platform that has changed the way we do business, and the way we communicate. The Internet, as no other medium, has given an international or, if you prefer, a "Globalized" dimension to the world. It is the universal source of information.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you have probably heard about e-commerce, and you have probably heard about it from several different angles. You may have heard about all of the companies that offer e-commerce through their TV and radio ads, or maybe you've read news articles about the shift to e-commerce, or the huge valuations that some Internet companies get in the stock market, even when they don't make a profit, or you may have purchased something personally on the web, so you have had a direct experience with e-commerce.
The Internet is actually the most democratic of all the mass media. With a very low investment, anyone can have a web page on the Internet. This way almost any business can reach a very large market, fast and economically, regardless of its size or location. With a very low investment almost anybody who can read, and write can have access to the millions of people "online".
Still, you may feel like you don't understand e-commerce at all. What is all the hype about? Why the huge valuations? And most importantly, is there a way for you to participate? If you have questions like these, then this article will help out by exposing you to the lucrative world of e-commerce.
E-commerce
- E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet, especially the World Wide Web. In practice, this term and a newer term, e-business, are often used interchangeably.
Before we get into a complete discussion of e-commerce, it is helpful to have a good mental image of plain old commerce first. If you understand commerce, then e-commerce is an easy extension.
Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary gives a few definitions of commerce: 1: social intercourse: interchange of ideas, opinions, or sentiments
2: the exchange or buying and selling of commodities on a large scale involving transportation from place to place
3: sexual intercourse
We tend to be interested in the second definition, but that third one is interesting and unexpected -- maybe that's what all of the hype is about?
You can see that from this perspective, commerce is a fairly simple concept. Commerce is, quite simply, the exchange of goods and services, usually for money. We see commerce all around us in millions of different forms. The mere fact that you are reading this article you are participating in commerce. In the same way, if you were selling watches out of a trench coat on the street of New York, you are participating in commerce from a different angle. If you go to work each day for a company that produces a product, or service that is yet another link in the chain of commerce, all of commerce at its simplest level relies on buyers, and sellers.
When you get down to the actual elements of commerce and commercial transactions, things get slightly more complicated because you have to deal with the details. However, these details boil down to a finite number of steps. At the very core of the matter, you would like to sell something to someone in order to generate an income. Ok, so you need a product or service to offer. The product can be anything from retail inventory to virtual products such as a luxury resorts membership to website domain names. You may design your own products, or become an affiliate of a company that has a product, or buy inventory from wholesalers.
You must also have a site from which to sell your products. You can build yourself one using simple software like Microsoft FrontPage, or you might hire someone to build you a professional one. Then you need to figure out a way to get people to come to your site. This process is known as marketing. If no one knows that your place exists, you will never sell anything. You then need a way to accept orders and collect money. You can use wire transfers or electronic checks through online banking, or you can accept credit cards through merchant accounts such as Pay Pal.
If you choose a business that needs a way to deliver the product or service, that process is known as fulfillment. There are several companies like FedEx and UPS that have on line business solutions that you can outsource the fulfillment process to. More and more e-businesses are moving toward virtual products, or services where delivery can be done instantly.
Many products today are so complicated that they require customer service and technical support departments to help customers use them. This process can also be outsourced to the company you affiliate with, or various out side companies. Travel memberships are a good example of this sort of product. On-going updating of packages that become available, changes in pricing through out the year, and the scheduling of reservations will require on-going customer service because customers want to change the dates and locations from time to time.
So, how does a newbie to the online business world select a product, set up a site, drive traffic to that site, make sales, collect money, and handle customer service, and fulfillment. Wow, there is a huge need for proper planning. You need to do a lot of reading and research to get yourself familiar with the best industries, products, and practices. One of the easiest ways I have discovered to quickly start making money online is a business model that doesn't take much works to get up and running, the affiliate program. Let me share with you why it is such a great idea.
Affiliate programs are everywhere on the Internet, and are a great way for beginners to get into e-business. They are also great for professionals who don't have a lot of time and can't leave their current profession in order to develop their e-business. You can start earning money without having to reinvent the wheel, or spend months on end trying to develop and perfect a site, and a sales system that creates conversion. The use of an affiliate program is the ultimate method of being able to start a home-based business on the Internet. Self-employed professionals who are limited on the amount of time they can devote to their e-business are flocking to affiliate programs because once they are up and running they operate on autopilot. The right program can generate enough income through perpetual leverage to free anyone from his or her "golden handcuffs", or "financial struggle"
Finally, if you find the right affiliate program they are relatively quick and easy to setup and manage. They are in the business of duplicating professional results for all of their reps. Everything you need, will be organized into carefully packaged systems. Therefore, it is usually far less costly, and much less work for you to start generating money. Some programs are so well thought out and effective that they are attracting professionals from all walks of life.
Even if you know nothing about website design, e-commerce, or online marketing, you will be able succeed if you align yourself with the right affiliate company. However before you run out and plunk down several hundred or several thousands of dollars, do your research. Not all affiliate programs are created equally.

By Christopher Kyalo

Internet home business ebooks can be a valuable resource that can easily transform your enterprise from mediocrity to great success beyond your wildest dreams.
But you will have to look for ebooks or special reports written by actual Internet home business entrepreneurs. The problem is that most of the available information in the form of ebooks and special reports is just theory. And when an Internet expert chooses to write, they will usually hold back their most valuable inner secrets and tips. Still, you should always make an effort to get your hands on stuff that has been written by somebody who has actually made some money from their Internet home business. And even if they decide to hold back their tastiest morsels of tips and information, you will at least be sure to have started on the right track and not on some wild goose chase prompted by some impressive sounding theories churned out by some hired content provider.
Even Wilbur and Orville Wright discovered mechanized flight by studying what others had already done and achieved before them. Meaning that even if the Internet home business ebook or special report you get hold of does not reveal everything, you can use what has been laid bare to build on and make developments and improvements of your own.

Income Opportunity - Home Based Business

By Charles Fuchs

There are the naysayers out there – the ones that tell you there is not a income opportunity home based business available to anyone. They either claim that the home based business is a scam or that working from home is not real work. However, there are plenty of work from home business available that allow you to make as much money as you would like doing something you enjoy.
One of the reasons that some people react negatively to the idea of an income opportunity home based business is that they have been burned before in their attempts to start a home based business. The number one reason for people not being successful is that they choose something for their work from home business is that the person chooses the wrong business for him or herself.
When choosing a home based business, making money should not be the only characteristic you consider. Most successful entrepreneurs will tell you that they made their money doing something they enjoy. Just because you see an ad for an income opportunity home based business does not mean it is the right one for you. Put the money aside and ask yourself if the job is something you would enjoy doing day in and day out. Is it a job you can get lost in? That you would wake up every morning looking forward to doing? If not, then it may not be the job for you.
The less invested you are in your home based business, the less success you will have. Yet another reason for people reacting so negatively to the idea of an income opportunity home based business is the media’s reporting of the work from home scams out there. However, if you learn to protect yourself from those scams, you will find that you can avoid the pitfalls that have taken the money and dreams of so many others.
When you look at home based businesses, you need to determine if it is a legitimate job or a scam. Make sure you know the common scams floating around the job world like envelope stuffing, craft assembly, and pyramid schemes. Also know the subtle differences between the illegal pyramid scam and a legitimate MLM opportunity. Sometimes scams are strategically built to look like they are a real income opportunity home based business, but they will end up taking your money and leaving you with no business at all.
